Building in the Level 20 family

Celebrating nearly 20 years at Thermaltake, we have just launched our new family of Level 20 chassis. These fresh new designs highlight everything from super towers to cube cases, right the way down to small form factor builds. Each of them uses hardware in a different way, and boasts a massive amount of liquid cooling, fan and hardware support.

Today we want to showcase three systems we’ve just finished building in the Level 20 GT, VT and XT cases, as well as put forward some build ideas for anyone wanting to get one for themselves. Read all about it here.

Special thanks to Teamgroup, MSI and AMD for supporting these builds with their incredible hardware.

Level 20 GT RGB

For those looking to start on a new build or maybe your current case is looking kinda dull now that the Level 20 GT RGB exists – never fear, because this chassis will bring plenty of RGB style to your gaming experience.

We fitted this build with enough RGB to blind the sun, and that’s just the way we like it. For anyone building this system at home, know it doesn’t have to be rainbows and unicorns 24/7, this gives you the freedom to build your perfect colour scheme across the whole system.

Our initial step was to implement our cooling system, installing two 200mm fans at the front of the system for intake and a single 140mm exhaust fan at the rear. We also installed a 360mm Floe Riing along the top of the case and decked it out with our new Trio fans to keep our Ryzen 7 1800X happy under load. The Level 20 GT allows for copious amounts of airflow throughout the entire system, so airflow isn’t an issue for a case of this size. But still, we wanted to ensure that enough air was flowing through the chassis so that our internals stayed nice and cool.

In terms of RAM usage, we’ve allocated two sticks of 8GB T-Force RAM (RGB of course!) and topped the system off with the incredible MSI GTX 1080ti Lightning GPU. When considering what GPU is right for you, it’s important to research first that your CPU and RAM will be able to meet demands of your graphics card. We went for a beefier CPU to match the huge potential of the 1080ti, and the T-Force RAM is more than fast enough to keep up with pack.

The Level 20 GT is a great choice for higher end builds, providing ample room to work in as well as great viewing angles thanks to large tempered glass panels on either side of the chassis. The GT can also fit up to E-ATX motherboards and some pretty serious liquid cooling hardware if you’re feeling up to designing something special.

Our test build consisted of components resting on the high end of the gaming spectrum but it can also easily suit smaller setups with plenty of space for expansion/upgrades later down the road.

Level 20 XT

A cube chassis that has ample room for the most courageous of liquid cooled builds, fantastic for showing off those sexy internal components and allow for crazy tubing configurations. Perfect for the streamer looking to offset their stream load to another machine or for you budding content creators out there, this case is also great for setting up a editing workstation for all your online creations.

Outfitted with two 200mm front fans, allowing for optimal airflow throughout the system while also complementing the LCS system. The liquid cooling system we’ve setup is built entirely with our new M360 Plus watercooling kit. Which comes fully kitted out with RGB Plus products, tubing, coolant, fittings and everything you need to jump from air to liquid. The kit comes with a W4 Plus CPU waterblock, PR22-D5 Plus pump/reservoir combo, RL360 Plus radiator, C1000 Pure Clear coolant, 3 Riing Plus 12 RGB fans and all the fitting and tubing you’ll need to make a CPU loop.

Liquid cooling will do most of the heat management within this system, so naturally it won’t generate unnecessary noise usually caused by high speed fans. With a setup like this you can stress less about heatand spend more time gaming, rendering, or streaming.

Our graphics setup consisted of a MSI GTX 1070Ti GPU that we paired with two 8GB T-Force RAM to help with performance. We also uses Team Group SSDs for system storage and powered everything with a iRGB 850W Thermaltake power supply. With the GPU and RAM we have selected, you can comfortably play most games at 1080p/60FPS or even at a 1440p resolution.

The Level 20 XT is a pretty unique case, it suits up to E-ATX motherboards with support for multiple reservoirs, two power supplies and as many hard drive racks as you could need. Meaning if you’re running a dual system, a render rig or want to dabble in something more serious than your average gamer – the XT might be the case for you.

The build process is also super easy, as the entire motherboard tray lifts out of the case so you can work out in the open before dropping the components back in.

Level 20 VT

The baby of the group, but by no means lacking potential. The Level 20 VT is a great micro-chassis for those who are limited on space or want to test how much power they can pack into a small area.

For the VT we went for a mid tier system, perfect for entry level PC gamers looking to join the 1080p/60FPS club. The RX570 and AMD 2200G is a great affordable option for those looking to make their start in PC gaming, and the small chassis means less real estate on your desk.

We’ve also installed a 200mm TT fan at the front of the case to ensure optimal airflow, as well as a 280mm Floe Riing CPU cooler in the top panel. This will ensure temperature conditions for the system and more importantly, it’s very easy to install. All of these components are powered by a Thermaltake 850W power supply, more than enough wattage to power the current build we have while at the same time leaving room to add extra fans or even upgrade the GPU further down the line.

Even though the VT is built for M-ATX motherboards, we’ve expanded the cable management and expansion space by splitting it across two levels vertically to maximise space. The split level design also changes the way thermals work within the case, meaning you can cool the top and bottom layers separately, and keep your hotter components in the coolest spots.
