An EPIC High End Gaming PC Build

You guys seemed to really enjoy the last post we did where we asked our builder Nick to put together an awesome PC Build– so, we decided to give him another challenge! This time, we’re going in the complete opposite direction! A High End PC Build with emphasis on the single player experience, and a professional looking aesthetic.

This was the brief we gave him:

“A PC Build for someone with a bit of money to spend. Likes everything looking detailed and plays very graphically intensive games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider and The Witcher 3. Not into Multiplayer. Budget isn’t a huge concern, but ideally wants to spend less than $5K. Doesn’t do content creation or streaming. Isn’t a fan of RGB. Wants a clean and professional looking build that can run games at the highest settings.”

If any part of the above brief sounds like you, then definitely keep on reading, because this might just be your dream build!

Case: Thermaltake A500 ($319)

The A500 is an aluminum mid tower case, featuring two tempered glass panels. Nick’s reasoning for choosing this case is that it has a premium, yet simplistic look, and has plenty of room for all of your hardware. This fits the brief requirement as it asks for a professional looking build.A500

CPU: Intel Core i9 9900KF ($699)

Nick opted for an Intel CPU this time over an AMD CPU, which the last build featured. This is due to it being a top selection for high tier gaming. Additionally, the user doesn’t need onboard graphics, so using this CPU is a bit of a money saver.

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F Gaming Motherboard ($339)

This motherboard has a sleek look and is reasonably priced for what it offers. These motherboards also tend to be very reliable and ticks all the boxes required for this build.

RAM: x2 Thermaltake ToughRAM RGB DDR4 3600MHZ 16GB ($199 each)

Of course, once again, we can’t go past our awesome ToughRAM! Not only does the RAM have an elegant and sleek look, but it also offers great speeds for gaming. We’ve also gone for an extra kit of RAM, bringing the total RAM up to 32gb because Nick had a bit of extra money for this build – however it would still be a pretty fantastic build with just the 16gb.

CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Floe Riing RGB 360 CPU Cooler ($289)

With a nice spacious case like the A500, Nick figured it was a good time to tap in a higher end CPU cooler. The Floe Riing RGB 360 is a solid All-in-one water cooler and will supply ample cooling for the build, even enough to easily overclock in future. Even though the brief asks for no RGB, this cooler comes with 16.8 million colour options (just like the RAM), so the colours can be set to a more muted white, for example, to suit the brief.

Floe RiingPSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 Gold 750W ($165)

Our fully modular Toughpower GF1 is Nick’s pick for the power supply due to its great quality, and ability to provide plenty of power for the system.

Power SupplyGraphics Card: ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti ($1,999)

Nick opted for this GPU as it is a top tier gaming GPU by ASUS. It not only looks nice, but also provides up to 6 times higher performance than previous gen cards. It also runs cool, with advanced temperature technology. This card will be able to run all the games mentioned in the brief with ease and allow for some amazing visuals.

Storage: Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD 1TB ($325) & Seagate Barracuda 4TB 3 3.5in Hard Drive ($159)

Nick went with this SSD, because the brief specifically mentioned the person being a gamer. This SSD is one of the fastest on the market, and being 1TB, it contains plenty of space for the Operating System, programs, and even some games.

The additional Hard drive allows for extra space to install bigger games and is also a fair price for some extra space (which is always handy!).

Fans: Thermaltake Riing Plus 12 RGB Premium Edition Fan 3 Pack ($129)

As this more of an up-market build, Nick decided to add in some additional fans this time. These will assist with air flow, able to move good amounts of air through the case and keeping everything nice and chilled. Like the AIO and RAM in this system, the LED’s on these are adjustable, so the user can swap to a more muted colour as the brief asked for.

Riing PlusO.S: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 32bit/64bit P2 USB Drive ($175)

Because, in the words of Nick himself: “Honestly, what else are you going to use, Linux? Yeah right!”

TOTAL COST OF THE PC BUILD: $ 4,996!

This will definitely provide the user with an amazing PC Build, fully capable of even going above and beyond the brief’s requirements. For someone with a bit of extra cash and wanting a system that will look as good as it runs, this build is right up your alley!

If you have any suggestions for a type of build that we should ask Nick for advice for, feel free request it down below! Also remember to check out our previous Nick Pick’s post, where we challenged him to build a PC for UNDER $1,500!
