9 PC Games to Play In Isolation

Are you over losing in Fortnite, or sick of waiting for new content in Overwatch? Due to so many of us being at home more now due to the COVID-19 outbreak, your usual go-to game might not be holding your attention like it used to, but where do you go from there? Well, to help keep you entertained, we’ve come up with 9 PC Games to Play in Isolation! If you haven’t tried some of these games yet, now is the time!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare – Warzone

If you’ve played enough Battle Royale’s to last a life time, then here is another one! This one is the new Call of Duty’s take on the genre, and it’s actually a very well-made game. It’s very easy to pick up, especially if you’ve played previous Call of Duty games or battle royal games. On top of this, in true Call of Duty style, it has top tier gun play. The map is also really interesting as it’s mostly made up of locations from previous Call of Duty Games. The game is also free, so it’s worth a shot, even if you’re not all that interested.

The Sims 4

If you want to get away from all the worries of the world today, why not dive right into the worries of another one! The Sims has always been the go-to game for escapism and is the perfect game to be playing while stuck at home still in your PJ’s at 5:30pm. With an enormous array of expansion, game and stuff packs, there’s tons of game play and building content, that will keep you busy for days as you cultivate your sims lives. We did a post recently about my personal favourite packs if you finally want to fall down the Sims rabbit hole.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls series is without a doubt one of the biggest and most beloved RPGs in the history of gaming. And the latest in the series, Skyrim, is a great game to disappear to for a few hours… or 10. If you’re anything like me though, you’ve already sunk well over 1000 hours into the game. So perhaps you’re worried it’ll get a little boring? Well think AGAIN! With an insanely dedicated modding community, there is no end to the experiences you can have in the world of Skyrim. There is a reason why this game is still widely played after being out for almost ten years. And if you haven’t tried on the armour of the Dragonborn yet, now’s the time!

ApocalypseVR Games

Sadly, only some of you will be able to take advantage of this one. For the ultimate escapism, you can’t go past a VR Headset, especially with the recent release of the hugely successful Half-Life: Alyx. If you’re looking for some other cool VR games, I’d definitely recommend: Super-Hot, Beat Saber and Job Simulator. I hope all my VR wielding friends enjoy their immersive escapism, while I cry about how I still haven’t been able to play Half-Life: Alyx.

Stardew Valley

If you’re jealous of all your Switch friends playing Animal Crossing, never fear! There is an equally amazing game on PC in a similar vein. Stardew Valley is so much more than a farming simulator. On top of growing crops, raising animals and developing your farm, there is an array of friendly, layered villagers you can get to know. On top of this, you can enter the dangerous mines, travel to a mysterious desert and work how to bring down the evvviil Joja Mart! This game is overall just an incredible experience and well worth sinking quite a few hours into this isolation season.

The Dragon Age Games

I say “The Dragon Age Games” because while I would recommend starting from Origins, I understand why some people wouldn’t want to. While the looks and gameplay of the earlier Dragon Age games have aged the story and characters are well worth pushing through it. That being said, Dragon Age: Inquisition has far better game play and looks pretty nice even though it came out in 2014. You also don’t really need to have played the previous games to play Inquisition, however it will deepen your understanding. Regardless, these games have an insanely deep lore with some incredible characters to accompany you on your journey through Thedas. And once you get immersed into these games, trust me, you’ll never want to leave.

Dragon Age OriginsJackbox Party Pack Games

One of the worst things about isolation is if you don’t live with your close friends or family, you can’t really hang out with them. Solution? Screen share a Jackbox Party Pack game! These games are the quintessential party game, and the best part is only one person needs to actually own the game for everyone else to play it. There is a variety of games. from drawing games to word games and more! There are now 6 different packs to choose from, so make sure to check out each pack and the games they offer before choosing! (My personal favourites are Jackbox 3 and 4).

Minecraft

Minecraft has remained in the public’s heart for so many years after it’s first release, and for good reason! This game has such a vast number of things you can do in it, that it’s no wonder why it’s still so popular. There is also a big modding community too! So, if you somehow run out of things in the vanilla game to do, there’s always that too. On top of THAT, there are also multiplayer servers! So, whilst you can’t hang out with your friends in real life, you sure can in your Minecraft server!  If you’ve somehow missed the hype after all these years, now is the perfect time to go hang out with Steve, Alex and those annoying Creepers.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3 is one of the most popular fantasy open world games. The game’s world is vast and insanely detailed, and the characters are hard not to love. Geralt, Ciri, Yen and Triss are all incredibly well fleshed out, and you truly come to care for all of them. The quests are all enjoyable, even the side quests, and the number of random encounters you have in this game is insane! All of this ties together to make an incredibly immersive experience that you can easily sink days of your life into. The 2 additional DLCs, Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine are also insanely good, and well worth your time also. If Netflix’s The Witcher wasn’t enough to get you into this world, this game sure will!
